A Lady Blows a Horn

The colorful story of Nancy Penn Smith Hannum, as told to author Nancy Mohr, is the legacy of Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds and the Lady Master.  Perhaps more importantly, this is a narrative of the open space preservation movement started in Pennsylvania’s Chester County.  Many of the farms, woodlots and natural areas mentioned in the book are thanks for Mrs. Hannum and her neighbors’ tireless efforts for preserving the cherished resources. The hunt country was a treasure ready to preserve – or vanish.

These preservation efforts ultimately served as a basis of "Landscapes2," the County's award-winning growth and preservation plan. This revealing narrative deserves reading and re-reading. It is legend -- for the benefit of generations to come.
